#ZOHAN SCREENIT MOVIE#
The movie on its own is pretty boring, I have to admit. SEE IT - you will either hate it, or become a big fan.Ĭlassic! In order to do Rocky Horror, you have to know Rocky Horror. When you aren't getting soaked by water or pelted with hotdogs, you can concentrate on the movie, which is a great spoof of horror film cliches. Watching this film on DVD, you will miss all the audience comments, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The contrast between Frank, who looks disturbingly sexy in fishnets and a corset, is so far removed from Curry's usual masculine upper crust British characters that one suspects he might have a secret bisexual twin who stepped in to play the wild, uninhibited Frank N. But let's face it, Brad and Janet were just TOO uptight to enjoy life before they met Frank, the songs are incredible, and Tim Curry's performance as Frank is nothing short of brilliant. You may question its morality, and the second half lags, as if the scriptwriter had already exhausted all the really great ideas in the first half and decided, "Let's put on a show!" The floor show kind of doesn't fit with the plot, and the viewer is left wondering if Frank, the transvestite mad scientist who creates a studly boy toy for his absolute pleasure, was right or wrong. The outstanding costuming and makeup, the terrific acting by a group of relative unknowns (Curry, O'Brien, Bostwick, Sarandon, Nell Campbell, Patricia Quinn, Meat Loaf), and the memorable songs ("Time Warp," "Sweet Transvestite") help make THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW one of the most bizarrely entertaining and satisfying musicals ever made.Īntigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Republic of, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guernsey, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jersey, Jordan, Korea, South, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Martinique, Mexico, Monaco, Montserrat, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Reunion, Romania, Saint Kitts-Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vietnam Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) are forced to examine their own sexuality as the voluptuous doctor releases the hidden desires in each of them.Based on the stage musical by Richard O'Brien (who also appears in the film as Riff Raff), the film comes alive with unforgettable song-and-dance numbers that have come to represent the sexual liberation of the 1970s. Frank-N-Furter, played magnificently by the fabulously sexy Tim Curry, in leather jacket, pearls, fishnet stockings, and heavy makeup. The castle is filled with a most bizarre group of characters who worship their master, Dr. Borrowing largely from cinema's horror conventions, the film begins as an innocent young couple is stranded at the home of a mad scientist who is building the perfect man. THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is a magical phenomenon unlike anything ever before seen onscreen.
